The original décor was around 20 years old and was out of date and in a bad state of repair. The woodchip paper was damaged, scuffs, cracks, and age discoloured paint made the woodwork look uncared for. The ceilings were papered and had cracked in places where the building had moved over the years.
The new owners wanted a complete makeover throughout the stairwell and landing of the three story townhouse. Firstly the walls were stripped of the woodchip paper, all the woodwork, skirting’s, door frames, bannisters and spindles was sanded back and filled and joints chalked. Walls were filled where necessary, sanded and sealed with a stabilizer. The walls were then papered with a 1200gm lining paper laid horizontally. The woodwork was primed and glossed. The walls were the papered with a Graham & Brown paste-the-wall wallpaper which was a dream to apply and would fully recommend.
I number of ante rooms were also painted to complete the brief.
Customer Comments:
“Neil was recommended to me for a large three storey staircase job (painting and papering). It was a difficult job and the wooden staircase needed taking back to base wood and repainted.
Neil is extremely professional and pays meticulous care and attention to preparation, before doing a fantastic job of both paintwork and papering. He does his work as if it were his own home and was only satisfied if I was satisfied. I was thoroughly delighted with his work and it was a pleasure to have him in my home, as he is a pleasant and friendly fellow.
I would happily recommend him for the quality and results of his work.”
Brief.: To redecorate the exterior of the building.
Initially the requested works were pretty straight forward. The front elevation rendered walls, iron guttering, down-pipes, timbers and windows were redecorated without too much problem, However once we reached the West elevation it became apparent that the render had been previously coated with a waterproof paint that had failed and had damaged the render below. The rubberized paint was painstakingly chipped off and the wall’s were allowed to dry out. The exterior was re-rendered by Indigo Construction and two coats of a suitable breathable paint was applied. In addition the balcony, gutters and rotten timbers were replaced, prepped and painted.
