Southwick House

Brief: Fully maintain the decorative surfaces of the Farm building & outbuildings:

The owners of this beautiful period farmhouse have an excellent maintenance programme which ensures that the interior & exterior finishes are kept looking fantastic. The clients have returned to us on numerous occasions to carry out a wide variety of works that needed a delicate approach. In each instance quality paints in traditional colour’s were used to suit the period of the rooms.

First visit:

Games Room: Prepare all surfaces, make repairs to timberwork, install replacement skirting board, apply 2 coats of white emulsion to ceilings, Apply 2 coats of Farrow & Ball coloured emulsion to walls, Apply a coloured F&B undercoat to all skirtings, shelving, architraves, windows and doors, Apply 2 coats of F&B coloured eggshell to all skirtings, shelving, architraves, windows and doors. Apply 2 coats of white stain block to black painted oak beam, Apply a coat of colored F&B eggshell.

Second Visit:

Description of works:

Exterior Windows and doors: New hardwood frames and sashes were installed about five years ago, so repairs were minor. However they had previously been painted with a Farrow & Ball water based eggshell paint which wasn’t suited to the application. Therefore all were prepared, undercoated and top coated with a suitable oil based external paint manufactured by Little Greene. In total twenty four windows & two doors to the main house, along with two stable doors, four shutters, and three windows to the stable block were renovated, and should last the rigours of the weather for many years to come.

Boot Room: The decoration of the boot room/utility room was looking tired. The client wanted a complete change to the colour scheme. A new slate floor had been laid along with some new kitchen cupboards and oak work surfaces so the a lot of protection was required. The ceiling, walls timber beams and general work were all transformed with a more modern pallet but still in keeping with the building. In addition the clients wanted a hand painted finish to the cupboard doors and draws. They were all sanded down, had two coats of a oil based undercoat and two coats of oil based eggshell manufactured by Little Greene. A light sanding between each coat ensured a perfect finish.

Third Visit:

Description of Works:

New Extension: The client needed a larger kitchen/dining room, so the old kitchen made way to a large new extension which would give ample room for entertaining and provide easy access to the grounds at the rear of the property. The new windows were decorated to match the others throughout the property and the interior of the extension was decorated in stone shades from Farrow & Ball. A total of thirty kitchen cupboards plus draws were all hand painted in a dark navy eggshell.
